A Dream that Couldn’t Be Extinguished

My hope in creating this space…that you would be able to tangibly see, hear and feel the stories that are being written through loving your children in your homes.

Over ten years ago, I had a dream. Randomly, in an off-handed conversation, I mentioned it to a loved one, this out-of-nowhere dream of mine. It was met with a resistance and questioning. Rightfully so. At that time, I had just finished up my Master’s in Human Resources and was working at Target Headquarters (or maybe I had just had our first child and was a fresh stay-at-home mom). Either way, my career trajectory was not heading in the right direction toward this dream. I had no degree or professional experience in this area, and in fact, was not even pursuing anything related to the field; but the desire was there nonetheless. It really was silly to even consider after spending countless hours studying and a huge financial commitment towards a master’s degree, why would you completely veer in a different direction?

Life transitions happened, babies were born, careers changed, moves carried us cross-country (twice), but deep down the dream still remained. For a time, I was buried under young motherhood - raising up two littles while we tried to keep our heads above water amidst the chaos and exhaustion. Then there was settling into a new location and home, Covid (need we say any more?) and finally, transitioning children into the rhythms of school and extracurricular activities. The busyness of life and the lies of the enemy kept me from pursuing my desire, but all along God had been faithfully building me up and keeping the flame in my heart alive. He provided opportunities to hone my craft, pursue my art and bless others along the way. The road has been filled with thorns and thistles, valleys and deserts, but along with that has become a growing and blossoming I never anticipated. An opening and surrender of myself to this gift and calling through the refining and sanctifying work of the Spirit.

I love the art of photography, the act of writing and bearing witness to the connection of people. I feel most alive when these spaces come together and this is my hope in creating a blog space…that you would be able to tangibly see, hear and feel the stories that are being written through loving your children in your homes and maybe one day I’ll convince you to desire that for yourself and your beloved family.

So here’s to my little corner of the world and the dream that never ceased to be extinguished - my heart and my art wrapped up in a tangible space on the internet. I hope you’ll follow along with me.
